My buddy Dan Warren has been restoring his 1950 Oliver Tractor for more than 2 years.
Today I had the privilege of being with him for the maiden start of this finally-restored antique!

When I arrived, I could sense the anticipation in the air as Dan and Larry did some last-second checks on the rebuilt machine.
Of course I captured the first-run of the restored tractor on video –
After this first run, they attempted to start it again and it sounded even better than the first time. About 45-seconds later, however, a large oil leak formed and brought the machine to a quick stop. Discouragement – the kind of discouragement that happens after 2+ years of work seems to have failed – filled the room.
I know for a fact that Dan Warren will eventually figure out where this leak came from (it was NOT a quick-fix) and get this bad-boy up and running and parading around his yard. I just hope I can be present for the maiden voyage of the restored Oliver!
Photos here.
Way cool!! God bless their hearts and heal that oil leak!!!
Uh-HEM…You learned your gardening skills from WHOM and from WHERE????!!!!!
I thought what Aunt Judy said! I never even got to mow on a Sunday! (Notice: I didn’t say that I never considered it!) You WERE taught differently that I DO KNOW!
Still love you lots and my arms are so ready and waiting!
MomMe
Momma Sheets–I really think he needed something to “grow” too. He gets the vegetables and I get the baby. I think his inability to ease my pain is driving him nuts and that’s why he needed something to do. I’m sure he didn’t think about it being Sunday. :-)
We’re not used to being home on a Sunday evening–our routine was all messed up!
