She Can Swing!

4.27.2006 — 6 Comments

Today we got to put Ella in her swing for the first time – captured above for your viewing pleasure.

She loved it for about 3-minutes before violently kicking and screaming.

We’ll try it again tomorrow.

I took some more pictures this afternoon and evening (no kidding?!).

Here are some of my favorites, but the rest can be found here.

My daughter is NOT affected by Kryptonite! (actually this is a “phototherapy device” placed on Ella’s back to help rid the bilirubin causing the jaundice-yellow many of you have probably been wondering about…)

Flowers from Ella’s Grandpa and Grandma Sheets (my parents) to welcome Ella and to bring cheer to Jess and the whole house!

We are continuing to get Ella’s blood drawn daily to watch the bilirubin count. Please join us in praying for it to be significantly lower tomorrow!

  1. She’s absolutely gorgeous! We’re so excited for you, and will be praying for you as you “weather the storm” of the first few days/weeks! We too were caught by surprise when we first brought Hayden home. Although it seems obvious to us now that newborns would be up all night, at the time we kept asking “Why in the world didn’t they tell us about THIS at all of those childbirth classes!?” It is such an incredible blessing, though, to hold and cuddle and just love such a miracle … that always made the sleepless nights a little less painful on us! :) Keep us posted on everything, and we will continue to pray for strength, endurance, and health!

I immediately thought of something. First, let me say that the photos are absolutely wonderful. So happy to see my sister with baby. I was hoping to see those moments captured since I am so thrilled for Sally and Paul (grandparents).
For crying baby…if you haven’t tried this yet….look for something that makes the sound of ocean, moving water – something that might imitate the sound of in vitro. We found a bear that made the sound of what it was like in Mommy’s belly. It worked for newborns.

  3. we found that a good swing helped us get alot more sleep. its worth the many packages of ‘d’ batteries

Yes, this grandma can vouch for just how absolutely gorgeous, sweet little Ella is. Even in the middle of the night (last night)after her “hourly” breastfeedings with mommy when I had the pleasure of holding her and seeing her soooo content with her tummy full and knowing she is secure in mommy and daddy’s care. She truely is the sweetest and most beautiful little granddaughter. And I can’t wait to have those “tea parties” together in the future.
    I love you Ella.

Hugs and Kisses from Grandma Garrett

  5. I totally agree with my friend, Tim. Although, I might add that with our newest family addition we also invested in rechargeable ‘D’ batteries. A little more cash up front, but definitely worth the investment.

We’ve found that if he doesn’t want to nap in bed, the swing does wonders.

Enjoy your new little one, guys!!
