Late Friday night I finished reading “House” by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. This is the first time these two Christian authors have collaborated – and I must say that they can do it again as far as I’m concerned!
I have yet to read any Dekker novel, but I have read each Peretti book.
The book isn’t quite the caliber that I was expecting, though it did keep my interest and I read it through in about 3-hours. The last page of the book promises the movie adaptation coming in 2007. I hope it’s better than The Visitation’s movie adaptation.
After reading this book I am a bit curious about other Dekker novels. I noticed we have a few others in the church library, so I’ll start there.
Stev,
You should read the Circle Trilogy (Black, Red, & White) by Ted Dekker. I recently finished those and was amazed and couldn’t put any of the books down while reading. Give it a try.
Love the video Stevan…you’re the man!
Well, I am in the mist of the book right now. I love all of the Frank Peretti books I have read, the OATH being my favorite. I read Ted Dekkers book III. When I saw Perettis comment on Ted Dekkers book I knew that it would just be a matter of time that the two would collaborate. However, I think they should not have, I mostly see the suspense of Dekkers book more in House then the style I’m used to from Frank. The strange family theme, I don’t really like. I am waiting for the book to make it around the corner and turn a different direction(I know it will) but right now it has me feeling sick to my stomach and very uneasy. Frank Perretti always seems to tap into the supernatural in a way that ties it to reality, but the way this book tries to put some kind of psycho crazy mess inserted into the book causes too much confusion. I think they could have built up the story a little more and explained who these people really are, I mean, I’m half way though the book and I’m still confused. I’m going to finish it because Frank Peretti has never let me down but I see the same kind of confusion in this book as I did in Ted Dekkers III. Sorry Ted. Leave collaboration alone and stand on your own, you are more interesting this way, both of you. Well you tried.
