BOOK REVIEW: “Frequently Avoided Questions: An Uncensored Dialogue on Faith”

11.9.2007 — 2 Comments

book.jpgJust finished chapter 15 and the postscript of Chuck Smith Jr. and Matt Whitlock’s “Frequently Avoided Questions” book that I started MONTHS ago. I just found it in my night-stand the other night and after realizing I had only finished a bit more than a quarter of it figured I should finish!

So I did.

Some questions in the book are better than others, and the authors leave more questions than answers in the end. I liked how my mind was “stretched” reading through the book for sure.

The questions:
01. Why the Bible?
02. Do I Have to Go to Church?
03. Do I Have to Sell God?
04. Can Christianity be Reduced to Steps or Stages?
05. Does God Speak Outside the Bible?
06. Is Forgiveness Real?
07. What Makes the Christian Experience Unique?
08. Are Christians the Morality Police?
09. Do Good People Go to Hell?
10. Does the Bible Contradict Evolution?
11. Am I Supposed to Hate the World?
12. Are There Gay Christians?
13. It is Wrong to Take a Job in a Bar?
14. Where is Your God?

There is also a lot of old-school vs. new-school dialog throughout the book. I don’t know the history of Smith Jr. or Whitlock, but I assume there’s a bit of hurt.

Coach T, the song on my favorite video (other than all of Ella videos) is titled (something like :Gold Digger”! What a great “fit” to a really cool video captured! My two most precious men of all time…hubby and son!
