My sister Stacia would’ve been 30 today…

stacia.jpgSometime on November 30, 1977, my older sister, Stacia Cressa was born into this world in North Carolina to loving parents who loved giving their children unique names. On June 23, 1990, at the age of twelve, that same life was reunited with her Heavenly Father for eternity after battling Leukemia and Melanoma cancers.

I was taken aback this morning with the realization that my sister would have been 30-today.

30! Wow.

If I think about it a bit, she probably would’ve been married. Probably would’ve had children. Our families would’ve probably celebrated her birthday together over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Who knows what would have been…

What’s also continuing through my mind today is that Stacia is still ‘older’ than me – even in my brain. She’s been gone from us for 17-years and somehow she’s still ‘looks’ older, ‘talks’ older, and ‘acts’ older than me. When I think about her I can’t help but envision her as my continuously ‘older’ sister.

I thank God for the memories of my sister – and for the faith that she had as a young pre-teen that assured her family and friends that she would one day be reunited with them (us) if we, too, put our trust in the Saving Grace of Jesus Christ!

    Stevan,
How special your sister Stacia must have been. It’s wonderful that you remember her as you do. She is beautiful and I can also see where Ella resembles her. Look at those big eyes!!

  4. Our hearts, too, are remembering this precious girl! My prayers today are for continued comfort for you, Sherilyn and your beloved parents.

    You are loved!

Oh dear, I missed this one. How precious…..how neat of your to honor her. I can remember you being so gentle and kind to her. I cannot remember one time that you were ‘mean’ to her. You could always see love in your eyes when you looked at her, or that you were interested in what she was doing and saying. So many things I could say. I do celebrate her life here on earth, but for her sake, I celebrate where she is now. It hurts to think about here though, because we miss her terribly. Thanks for the reminder. I haven’t kept up with my birthday calendar and forgot that it was her earthly birthday.

I am behind at looking at your website but Stacia’s birthday never goes by without my thoughts of her and your family. Thanks for posting the picture of her. Brought back so many memories.

    Dear son,

I can’t believe it, I missed this one, but then again, with play practice since the end of Sept. I have been very busy with all the details included in such a production!

Aunt Pam E-mailed me today and said how special she thought your tribute was to Stacia…and I thought “What tribute”? So, even as unbelievable as this day has been for us here, I quickly went to get ONLINE and find what she was talking about! I can’t believe I missed this! Can you guess what I am doing? Yes, crying! I love the cropped picture of her that you used! Thank you for your dear and special tribute to her and that she would have been 30 this year! It is hard to believe!! I too see her being oldre than you still, like you explained! That seems kind of unusual to me!

Again, than you! After kid nation last night (we taped it for after church) we watched Seven @ ten on the septuplets who just turned ten! Near the end they covered the two that have specail needs, and I cried (it’s hard to explain all of my feelings), but they surround Stacia with what I feel! I too LOVED Kid Nation!!! I really LOVED it!! I hope they can find it workable to have a season Two!

    Much love always,
    Momma
