Today, 10 (yes, ten) 13-Line Ground Squirrels met their fate by refusing to catch the golden bb’s that were thrown at them at over 150fps.
Too bad for them!
Thanks to Jake and Rudy for helping make today’s hunt especially memorable. By the end of the hunt we had over 100-feet of hose stretched across the yard and placed it in more than a dozen holes to attempt to “flush” out these evil rodents.
After today’s slaughter, my Summer ground squirrel death count has reached twelve!
Stay tuned for further updates!
Awesome. Wish I could have been there to help.
They are pesky little critters, aren’t they?! We killed about 8 of them at our house in Indiana (some of them were IN our house…. yuck!) all via rat trap. Hoorah!
I promise that I really do know how to spell my own name….
your count for rodents is pretty amazing!!!!! impressive old man!!! anyways I hope you had a great mini-vacation!!! I will talk to you soon…
I sure hope you protected Ella from this – I am still working through the way our dad used my bedroom as his look-out to kill groundhogs w/ his stinkin loud .22!!!!! Ugh…. poor kid. (kinda cool i knew to put a . before the 22!!??!!)
Don’t worry, Sher! I kept her inside and away from the hunt, though I was silently cheering when I found out they were successful. I don’t want to watch it happen, but I will gladly praise the efforts! I did have to laugh when I walked out to water my herbs and saw Stevan fall to the ground with a yelp. He laughed harder when he noticed I was watching. Apparently those ground squirrels come out the hole you put water in instead of out another–ha!:-)
Awe… their so cute though!
I went the poison route this year. The results will be evident when I return in 2 weeks. :)
I say “killers”!
This has nothing to do w/your killing spree..was reading your twittering about watching Backyardigans w/Ella. Did you know that they will be in Wabash in October? I believe at the Honeywell Center. I saw it in the Times-Union a few weeks back and thought of you guys.
BTW–it would of been nice if someone caught you on video!
I’ll try to be ready next time, Momma Sweeny!
Caddy Shack Moment!
Thirteen lined ground squirrels are not cute. Chipmunks are cute.
I can’t believe you got so many. Great job!
I only have one word: Totally Awesome.
Wish I could of been there! Did I tell you I ran down a groundhawg/woodchuck at work with my jeep and “got it”?!
good times.
