Archives For General

I’m truly thankful for my top-notch and talented friends. Scott Troyer is one of those friends. I have attempted to brag on Scott in an attempt to win his favor and one day have him write a song about me. (that sentence is only partially true)

51V4esba5lL._SL500_AA280_Scott recently released his new album, “All is Sideways” that I have been listening to almost nonstop since it arrived in the mail a couple weeks before I left for Africa last month.

I have been wanting to promote this album as much as possible as a friend to Scott AND because I truly believe this is an incredible album that needs to be heard outside of the circle of people I know and who would be willing to listen to it because I ask them to.

So I’m giving a copy of the album away. It’s an MP3 version from Amazon.com and it could be yours.

Follow the directions below and enter as many times as you can this week. Punchtab will help me randomly select a winner from all the entries (you can enter multiple times) and I will contact the winner personally after the contest ends. Entries into the contest are available in a variety of ways that promote this contest AND help Scott’s music receive some extra attention, too! By entering the contest you’re helping me spread the news about this great album and the talent behind it!

Thanks for helping me spread the word about my friend Scott and this contest!

Fantastic 7-minute seminary lesson: An Introduction to Cults –

Dr. Steve Tsoukalas (Assistant Professor of Apologetics and Christian Thought at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi) introduces the nature of cults and what sets them apart from orthodox Christian belief.

That is all.

Just watch. Please.

This video is of Scott singing the actual audio-take heard on the album. I think it’s safe to say that Scott sings from his heart.

I’ve been waiting to talk much about the album because I want to give away a copy when it’s available on Amazon (coming soon). I’ll have to take care of that when I return from Swaziland!

Lyrics:

“Bring Me All The Way Home”
Scott Troyer

I’ve wagered a lifetime to find out for sure
if what you say is true.
And here I am now still on the journ’
hoping I’ll find out soon.

Bring me all the way home
Bring me all the way home
I’m nowhere near and only halfway there.
So bring me all the way home

I’ve seen the water so still and so calm
that the mist fell asleep upon her.
And I’ve seen her rage like holy fire
and bury many a man below her.

Bring me all the way home
Bring me all the way home
I’m nowhere near and only halfway there.
So bring me all the way home

Tho’ the hull be cracked, and our flag half mast,
and we cannot see the shore;
and tho my heart be torn for a place called home,
God, grant me one day more.

Bring me all the way home
Bring me all the way home
I’m nowhere near and only halfway there.
So bring me all the way home

Bring me all the way home
Bring me all the way home
I’m nowhere near and only halfway there.
So bring me all the way home

Bring me all the way home
Bring me all the way home
Bring me all the way home

WL_Cover_FA2012_webI’m very excited that the proverbial “cat” is out of the bag about the complete rebranding of the Wesleyan Church’s magazine: WESLEYAN LIFE. I’ve been waiting a LONG time for this day to come and am SO excited to see our denomination make strides in the areas of design and identity. This new magazine is a huge step in the right direction for the Wesleyan Church. There a complete redesign of the magazine’s online presence here at wesleyanlifeonline.com, too.

Our denomination’s website puts it this way:

With the arrival of the fall, 2012 issue of Wesleyan Life magazine, many are commenting about the new look. One quickly notices the pages are wider, and the magazine has more heft, as eight pages have been added. But even more striking are the photographs and the overall new layout driven by creative director Kory Pence, whose fresh vision is largely responsible for the new design.

Also adding,

There is more technology included in this issue. By using QR codes, Twitter, Facebook, or visiting WesleyanLifeOnline.com, readers can download the entire issue to be read on mobile devices. This will be an interactive feature with links to further information, enrichment, and videos. The feature will represent the cutting edge of growth.

If you haven’t yet held the print-version in your hands, the .pdf is available for both download and online viewing.

I am SO THANKFUL for the talent, vision, and patience of my friend, K Pence in helping bring new life to this publication for our denomination!
