My Desk

1.25.2011 — 1 Comment

I did a little social experiment this afternoon and posted a quick-taken photo of the current view of my desk and asked my friends on Twitter to do the same. Surprisingly a few of them responded with a willingness to do the same. Here are the results:

What about you? What does your desk look like? I’ll continue to update this post for the next day or so as more pictures are posted on Twitter with the hashtag #mydesk.

On this third Sunday of Advent we emphasized the word “JOY” and the Christmas story as recorded in Matthew 1:18-25.

Sermon audio here.

Yesterday was our first LOVE SHIP opportunity. Our first LOVE SHIP event included passing out 288 double-rolls of Scotch tape at various locations around Shippensburg. We included one of our “connection cards” with each of the tape-packs and wished passersby “Merry Christmas”. We’re already brainstorming what our next LOVE SHIP event will look like!

I’ve added here the images that I showed on-screen during the opening illustration regarding the instruction manual for raising children:

I Love Lowe’s

I had been hearing about the Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinics for a few years before I finally bit-the-bullet and signed Ella up for one of the clinics. I was hesitant only because their website suggests signing up children that are in grades 1-5. I originally thought that if we did sign up and arrive at Lowe’s with my 4-year old preschooler, that they would politely turn us away.

The first clinic we attended was the firetruck. Ella did fantastic. She enjoys wearing the apron and her “gobbles” as she calls them at every clinic!

At each clinic we receive a project-pack that includes all the pieces in the kit, instructions, stickers, and the use of a child’s hammer. At our first clinic Ella was given her own goggles and apron to keep! Also after Ella completes her project she is given a certificate of completion PLUS a fabric patch that Grandma has been helpful in stitching onto the apron.

Ella has an absolute blast every single time we attend one of the clinics. I register both Ella (4) and Ezra (1) for the clinic every time and simply bring the project-kit home for Ezra. Some of the kits I have put together for him at home and I’m holding onto some of the other ones for when he is a little older.

If you are a parent or grandparent of a child that might enjoy building something with their own hands, let me suggest taking part in the Build & Grow Clinics at Lowe’s! Sign up for the next clinic at the Lowe’s nearest you here on their website: http://www.lowesbuildandgrow.com.

Merry Christmas!

Thankfully, one of our family photos turned out to be “the one”!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

On Sunday after church, my photographer-buddy Tom agreed to snap some family-photos for us utilizing our church stage set-design. Getting a ‘good’ family photo of our family is not an easy-task: especially when factoring in the ages of our kids (4 and almost-2), the fact that Sundays after-church are not “settled” times, etc.

I don’t know if we got “the perfect” Family Christmas Photo, but I had to share the process for your enjoyment…
