I’m at Hyde Wesleyan Church for our District Conference and I’m taking live notes from row #2:

Wow. I had no idea until today…
My favorite CS Lewis book, “The Screwtape Letters” has been written as a screenplay and is being performed by the Fellowship of Performing Arts in various cities across the country!
From the website:
THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is a smart, provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon’s point of view.
It was a hit in NYC where it played 309 performances at the Westside Theatre in 2010. Prior to that, The Chicago Tribune described THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS as the “most successful show in the history of Chicago’s Mercury Theatre.” It, also, had two engagements at The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C. where it played for ten sold-out weeks.
In 2011 THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS is touring major performing arts venues in cities thorughout the United States including Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas & Atlanta.
Here’s a preview of the play:
I love the mission statement from the “Fellowship of Performing Arts”: To produce theatre from a Christian worldview that engages a diverse audience.
I would LOVE the opportunity to enjoy this performance! Have any of my readers seen it or know anyone who has?
Francis Chan is releasing a book, “Erasing Hell” (available in July) and he’s asking us to pray for him:
Isaiah 55:8,9 –
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
In this video, Francis Chan wisely reminds us,
“When we make statements like, “Well, God wouldn’t do this would he?”
At that moment you’re actually putting God’s actions in submission to your reasoning.”
Back in January, I had the privilege of reconnecting and interviewing one of my former students, Gene Lyfe Garver, here on stevansheets.com about what he’s been up to and where God is continuing to lead him.
Since then, Gene has continued to release new music every few weeks. I am continuously impressed with what he is creating.
My favorite tracks from this new mix tape are #11, “My Mind” and #12, “With Love”.
Keep up the great work, Gene! Love you man.
A lot has happened in the world over the last 15-months since the tragic Haiti earthquake. Other tragedies have taken place and received a lot of face time on all of the news outlets and as-usual, the story of Haiti has taken ‘second seat’ as we’ve been distracted by other things.
I received an email this morning from World Hope, International. World Hope is the organization many of the faithful stevansheets.com readers supported with me a few short hours following the earthquake back in 2010.
A brief snippet of the email:
Right now we are finishing a school and a medical clinic. We are really wanting to do full reconstruction on another school in Cite Soleil and are working on getting the all the funding we need.
Then I was asked:
Would you have any interest in helping?
I’ve been pondering the ‘ask’ for nearly 24-hours and I’m compelled to ask my faithful readers… are we willing to make a fundraising push for World Hope’s continued efforts in Haiti?
