Tonight as we were finishing dinner in our condo here in New Smyrna Beach we were reminiscing about our vacation adventures and realizing how short of time we have left (we’re leaving Saturday morning to start our trip home!) so we left dirty dishes on the table and headed to the beach to play in the sand and splash in the surf.
As we approached our boardwalk entrance to the beach I spotted a guy carrying his paragliding fan down the steps. I increased my pace.
We arrived on the beach in time to see him set up and take off! Of course I captured it on video –
He landed right back where he took off from – just behind where we were – Ezra took off to go visit the guy and tell him how cool he was!
We have had QUITE the vacation-adventure here in Florida! We are SO blessed!
We woke our kids up before 6AM on Friday, July 6th and surprised them by telling them we were heading to Disney World that morning!
If you’re like me this year, the $$$ you usually spend on fireworks for the 4th of July is being used elsewhere (us = beach vacation).
Thankfully I stumbled on this great video reminding me of a fireworks-like experience with supplies that we all probably have in our junk-drawers.
Ladies and gentlemen: Match Rockets –
We’re heading to the beach in Florida in just a few days. There are MANY things I need to accomplish here in Shippensburg before then but I can’t help but also looking forward to some of what we’ll be experiencing while away on our family vacation on the Atlantic Ocean.
Some of the things I’m looking forward to while we’re away:
- With the help of Ella and Ezra I’m looking forward to giving this guy a run for his money.
- I’m definitely looking forward to possibly witnessing (or participating in) something like this.
- I should be able to complete some much-needed (and desired) reading. I look forward to finishing this, this, and this specifically.
- The chance of witnessing something like this from a safe distance.
- Most of all, I’m truly looking forward to just being Husband and Dad and spending time with these people.
What am I missing? This is our family’s first true-vacation and it’s the first time since I was in High School that I’ve spent longer than a day or two at the beach… What would you say are the must-do’s while vacationing as a family at the beach near Daytona Beach? We would welcome your input!
