New Switchfoot Album, “Fading West” released today, January 14th, 2014. As a lifelong Switchfoot fan let me be one of thousands to say that this album does not disappoint.
I’ve been quite impressed with Jon Foreman’s lyrics on each of Switchfoot’s previous albums and this album, again, doesn’t disappoint. For my own future-reference I wanted to collect the lyrics of each track of Fading West and post them here on the blog. Unfortunately at this moment they’re not yet available on Switchfoot’s main site, so I’ve scanned the Internet for the lyrics and found some that I was able to edit as best I can to be more accurate than most I’ve found.
If you haven’t yet heard the new album, it is currently streaming at Relevant Magazine’s “The Drop” and you can listen to it in its entirety. I’d also highly recommend buying it on Amazon.

Last evening, Heaven gained one of the most notarized Gospel-singing voices on earth as George Beverly Shea passed from this life into his eternal dwelling at the age of 104.
For more than 60 years, George Beverly Shea had carried the Gospel in song to every continent and state in the Union through Billy Graham’s Crusades. As the musical mainstay in Graham’s crusades, Shea was often called “America’s Beloved Gospel Singer,” and was also considered, “the first international singing ‘star’ of the gospel world.” Through music and the proclamation of the Word, Bev Shea and Mr. Graham have shared the saving faith of Jesus Christ to millions. – georgebeverlysheamemorial.org

Shea, who grew up in a Wesleyan parsonage and attended IWU’s Wesleyan sister institution, Houghton College, sang for more than 220 million people in his life and was a soloist at many of the Rev. Billy Graham’s evangelistic rallies. He received a standing ovation at the 2010 Grammy Awards when he received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy (his second win at the Grammy Awards, at which he received ten nominations over the years). – IWU’s Spectrum post
I finally checked out the band, “Gungor”. One word: Wow.
Passionate Christ-centered lyrics, skillful instrumentalists, and a unique band name (which is merely lead guy Michael’s last name) = amazing.
They played at Catalyst in Atlanta last week and ever since there has been quite the grassroots movement on Twitter/Facebook/Blogs promoting this band to the masses. If you’re looking for a fresh worship band to add to your playlist, I think you’ll like their passionate acoustic version of “Beautiful Things”:
